The Thompson Bridge Bigband in Grave, The Netherlands, was founded on 14 June 2006. Band members live in the surrounding areas. The band is named after the bridge over the River Maas near Grave
The bridge is named in honour of an American, Lieutenant John S. Thompson, a platoon commander who, after heavy fighting on 17 September 1944, captured the bridge from the Germans.
The Thompson Bridge is also an important link for our musicians living on both sides of the river Maas and it symbolises what we wish to achieve with our music: Harmony.
